Job description

Are you ready to play a key role in complex engineering projects that deliver real, lasting impact? At Sizewell A, we’re looking for driven and innovative multidiscipline Project Engineers to help shape the future of the site as it transitions to a safe and secure end state. This is your opportunity to lead on technically challenging projects, influence key decisions, and see your ideas come to life from concept through to commissioning phases and beyond, all while working alongside a highly skilled and passionate team.

What will you be doing:

In this role, you’ll take ownership of delivering robust, fit‑for‑purpose engineering solutions, translating project functional requirements and stakeholder needs for assigned projects into effective designs and technical specifications that stand up to the highest safety and quality standards. You’ll be instrumental in guiding the full project lifecycle, contributing to critical design, safety case, and commissioning documentation, while ensuring all detailed design activities align with design authority standards. Acting as a technical leader, you’ll oversee detailed design, assess contractor outputs, and provide hands‑on supervision during construction, deconstruction, and commissioning and/or decommissioning phases to ensure every element is delivered safely and in line with intent. Finally, you’ll play a key role in successful project completion, ensuring seamless handover to systems/operations with complete documentation, training, and system readiness in place.

You will also:
  • Produce and/or approve project technical specifications.
  • Carry out technical assessment/approval of contractors work instruction/method statements/risk assessments.
  • Provide technical supervision of construction/deconstruction activities to ensure compliance with design intent.
Who Are We Looking For

We’re looking for a proactive and delivery‑focused Project Engineer with a proven record and passion for delivering in high‑performing project teams with hands‑on experience applying engineering principles within complex plant settings. With experience in fulfilling the CDM Designer role and a track record of successful project contribution, you’ll be confident navigating safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

You will have:
  • HNC (Level 4) as a minimum, preferably degree qualified (Level 6) or working towards
  • Significant experience in practising disciplined engineering role on an industrial plant
  • Experience of fulfilling the CDM Designer role

It would be advantageous to have knowledge/experience in commissioning of industrial plant as well as contract management.

The successful candidates will be required to hold Authorisations commensurate with the role.

We also welcome applications for those looking to develop and therefore may not meet all the essential criteria for the role. In these circumstances there may be a lower grade offered for a development opportunity. The successful candidate would be considered on a case by case basis and supported with a PDP (Personal Development Plan) to enable a clear path for progression into the role.

If you’re motivated by solving complex challenges, influencing high‑profile projects, and making a tangible contribution to a nationally significant programme, we’d love to hear from you.
