Job summary

Escape in Dumfries is seeking a technically capable Project Manager / Project Engineer to own engineering projects from planning through to delivery on site. You will manage installations, supervise teams and subcontractors, liaise with customers, and ensure safety, quality and profitability.

A SMSTS is essential; NEC3 knowledge preferred; driving licence required; travel to sites across the UK. The role offers a challenging mix of project management, engineering and client liaison with

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing engineering or industrial projects.
  • Experience with mechanical installation, commissioning and/or maintenance.
  • SMSTS qualification is essential.
  • Knowledge of NEC3 contracts.
  • Strong planning, cost control and risk management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites.

Responsibilities

  • Managing projects from initial scope through to completion and handover.
  • Planning and coordinating installation, refurbishment and repair projects.
  • Managing engineering teams and subcontractors.
  • Conducting site visits, surveys and inspections.
  • Preparing project estimates, quotations and technical solutions.
  • Monitoring project costs, budgets and profitability.
  • Producing project documentation, reports and GANTT charts.
  • Managing customer relationships and acting as a key point of contact.
  • Identifying and managing project risks.
  • Ensuring all work complies with health & safety and quality requirements.
  • Providing technical guidance to engineering teams.
  • Supporting business development through a consultative approach.

Project Manager / Project Engineer Dumfries | £45,000 + 10% Annual Bonus | Permanent

We are looking for a technically capable and commercially aware Project Manager / Project Engineer to take ownership of engineering projects from initial planning through to successful completion.

This is a varied, hands‑on position combining project management, engineering, customer engagement and site-based delivery.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing a range of engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

  • Managing projects from initial scope through to completion and handover
  • Planning and coordinating installation, refurbishment and repair projects
  • Managing engineering teams and subcontractors
  • Conducting site visits, surveys and inspections
  • Preparing project estimates, quotations and technical solutions
  • Monitoring project costs, budgets and profitability
  • Producing project documentation, reports and GANTT charts
  • Managing customer relationships and acting as a key point of contact
  • Identifying and managing project risks
  • Ensuring all work complies with health & safety and quality requirements

About You

We are looking for someone who combines engineering knowledge with strong project management and customer-facing skills.

  • Proven experience managing engineering or industrial projects
  • Experience with mechanical installation, commissioning and/or maintenance
  • SMSTS - essential
  • Knowledge of NEC3 contracts
  • Strong understanding of project planning, cost control and risk management
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites
