Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Power T&D team in the UK. You will work with the Project Manager and delivery teams to plan, coordinate and execute projects from inception through completion, developing practical engineering solutions and ensuring safe, high-quality outcomes.

The role emphasises collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams, subcontractor management, risk oversight and continuous improvement, with opportunities to influence project success and client

Qualifications

  • Experience in a project engineer or site engineer role.
  • Experience delivering infrastructure, utilities, energy, power, transmission or major civil projects.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery processes.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements in construction.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating site activities.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work across multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.

About the role

We're looking for a Project Engineer to join our Power T&D team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering professional who thrives in a project environment and wants to play a key role in the successful delivery of major infrastructure schemes across the UK.

What you’ll be doing

As a Project Engineer, you'll work closely with the Project Manager and wider delivery team to support the planning, coordination and execution of projects from inception through to completion. You'll help develop practical engineering solutions, manage site activities, and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the delivery of projects to programme, budget and quality requirements
  • Coordinating engineering, design and construction activities across site teams and supply chain partners
  • Interpreting and implementing technical information, specifications and drawings
  • Managing subcontractors and monitoring progress on site
  • Preparing project documentation, reports and records
  • Supporting risk management, project reviews and performance reporting
  • Ensuring materials, resources and plant are available to meet project requirements
  • Promoting a strong health, safety and environmental culture across all activities
  • Reviewing and producing safe systems of work, including RAMS
  • Supporting audits, inspections and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Building effective relationships with clients, stakeholders and delivery teams
Who we're looking for

We're interested in hearing from candidates who have:

  • Experience working in a Project Engineer, Site Engineer or similar delivery-focused engineering role
  • Experience delivering infrastructure, utilities, energy, power, transmission, distribution or major civil engineering projects
  • Strong understanding of project delivery processes, including planning, risk management and stakeholder coordination
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements within a construction environment
  • Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating site activities
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary project teams
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
