Job summary

Outsource UK is recruiting a Project Engineer for our Bolton-based team. You will own customer projects from order receipt to commissioning, ensuring delivery on time, within budget and to technical specs.

Reporting to the Project Lead, you will coordinate with customers, suppliers and internal teams, manage variations and costs, and support international project delivery where applicable.

The Opportunity

We're working with a global engineering and technology business that designs and delivers advanced industrial vacuum and process systems to customers across a range of high technology manufacturing sectors. Their bespoke engineered solutions play a critical role in complex production environments where reliability, performance and precision are essential.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Project Engineer to join their Bolton based team.

Reporting to the Project Lead, you will take ownership of customer projects from order receipt through to commissioning, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required technical specification.

The Role

As Project Engineer, you'll be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of bespoke engineering projects while acting as a key point of contact for customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the Project Lead and wider project delivery team throughout the project lifecycle.
• Managing engineering projects from contract award through to commissioning and handover.
• Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and in line with customer requirements.
• Coordinating activities across engineering, manufacturing, procurement and external suppliers.
• Managing contract variations and change requests, including negotiation of commercial and delivery impacts.
• Monitoring project costs and maintaining project financial records to maximise project profitability.
• Developing production plans, resource schedules and project progress reports.
• Preparing and reviewing technical and commercial documentation, drawings, quality plans and material requisitions.
• Working closely with customers and stakeholders to provide updates and maintain strong working relationships.
• Supporting the successful delivery of projects across both UK and international markets.

About You

We're keen to speak with individuals who have experience delivering engineering projects within a technical or industrial environment.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience in a Project Engineer, Project Management or Contracts Engineering role.
• A strong technical background within engineering, ideally process, chemical, manufacturing or systems engineering.
• The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Experience working with internal teams, customers, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Strong commercial awareness and cost control experience.
• Knowledge of international engineering standards and industry codes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive and self motivated approach with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to customer and project sites (approximately 15%).

Experience of vacuum systems, process plant or industrial equipment would be advantageous but is not essential.
