Job summary

Anord Mardix, a Flex company, is seeking a Project Engineer to support technical planning and design across tenders and live projects. Located in Kendal or Blackburn, the role involves coordinating between electrical and mechanical teams and ensuring design readiness for deployment.

You will prepare calculations, review designs, and assist during on-site delivery and commissioning, with travel typically under 20%.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or a degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience with LV/MV switchgear, control panels, and electrical distribution systems.
• Strong understanding of single line diagrams, protection devices, and electrical design principles.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and produce accurate engineering documentation.
• Working knowledge of BS/IEC standards relating to switchgear and controlgear assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Turn tenders into deliverable designs with engineering teams and review proposed solutions.

Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new, independent publicly traded company, Axiom, with the spin planned for Q1 2027. If the intended spin occurs, this role will support Axiom, a company focused on critical digital infrastructure and delivering end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centres and other mission-critical applications.
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Project Engineer, located in Kendal or Blackburn.

What a typical day looks like:

• Coordination of project technical planning and design with execution.
• Support the sales team during tender submissions by ensuring technical compliance with relevant standards and regulations and providing guidance on specification CDE and technical submittals.
• Work with the electrical and mechanical engineering teams to turn successful tenders into deliverable designs and review those designs to confirm the proposed solution.
• Prepare project-specific design calculations.
• Communicate at all levels in a clear, concise way to internal and external stakeholders.
• Support the manufacturing and production teams during build, assembly, and testing.
• Review O&M manuals and training materials.
• Act as the technical point of contact for live projects, supporting Project Management during vendor calls, on-site delivery, and commissioning activities as needed.
• Assist RCA reporting through collaboration with the Quality team.
• Reinforce employee training, development, and engagement.
• Complete any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• HNC/HND or a degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience with LV/MV switchgear, control panels, and electrical distribution systems.
• Strong understanding of single line diagrams, protection devices, and electrical design principles.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and produce accurate engineering documentation.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Travel is required as part of the role, although it is expected to be less than 20% contracted time.
