Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a Project EHS Advisor in the UK to provide expert Environmental, Health and Safety guidance to project teams and stakeholders.

The role focuses on implementing the EHS management system, ensuring regulatory compliance and driving continuous improvement across multiple projects within the regional remit. The successful candidate will liaise with clients, project managers and authorities, develop EHS training plans, manage audits, and promote a positive safety

Qualifications

• Communicate with impact across the layers of the organization and across boundaries.
• Strong presentation skills towards internal and external parties.
• Team player mind set, but ability to operate effectively independently.
• Member of IOSH, Certified level as a minimum (CMIOSH preferred).
• CSCS MAP card holder.
• Degree or equivalent in Environmental, Health and Safety management (preferred).
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
• 3-5 Years minimum EHS experience on large and complex construction projects.
• Experience of implementing EHS Management Systems and supporting procedures.
• Drive and enthusiasm, a self-starter who can prioritize and work with agility.
• Full driving license required.

Responsibilities

• Acts as subject matter expert to project management teams and develops formal project plans to drive continuous improvement.
• Meets regularly and presents EHS data to clients, project leaders and management.
• Supports assessing and controlling risks on projects and identifies gaps with solutions.
• Creates and maintains relationships with Clients, Project Managers, Supervisors and Contractors.
• Promotes continuous development of a positive EHS culture on projects.
• Monitors and measures compliance with legal standards and follows up on weaknesses.
• Contributes to drafting and communicating EHS plans for projects.
• Develops and maintains an EHS management system within the project.
• Identifies EHS training needs and acts on them.
• Assists in audit item resolution and ensures effective action.
• Manages internal audit programme and supports item closure.
• Issues reports and analyzes EHS data with project managers.
• Conducts regular safety walks with project management teams.
• Participates in site meetings to discuss points and take action.
• Investigates serious incidents and drafts root-cause reports with preventive actions.
• Liaises with enforcing authorities for follow-up investigations or actions.
• Participates in compliance forums to stay current with best practices.
• Manages environmental aspects and their impacts via a compliance calendar and project system.
• Assesses contractors’ processes to verify EHS standards and performance.
