Job description

We are recruiting for a Project Design Manager to join our South West Water Team, based in Exeter. The Project Design Manager will collaborate closely with the design team and operational teams, focusing on ensuring the quality and timeliness of design outputs.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a newly awarded Framework, with 10 years of work through AMP 8 and AMP 9. The manager will work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, overseeing design deliverables for water, wastewater, and biosolids projects across Devon, Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly.

The Role:

• Reporting to the Contracts Manager, responsibilities include managing design resources and ensuring efficient production of deliverables according to the DORM and project schedule.
• Overseeing interfaces with third-party designs from consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Collaborating with design consultants to oversee all output.
• Implementing formal design reviews as per Trant procedures.
• Providing regular reports on progress and expenditure.
• Managing client relationships and communication.

Qualifications/Background:

• MEng/BEng in Civil Engineering or Marine Engineering.
• Experience in design and construction organizations, particularly within the water/wastewater sectors.
• Experience working with environmental and planning teams is advantageous.
