Job summary

Lancashire County Council is recruiting for a role that supports the evolution of technical education activity and Lancashire Skills Pledge. You will help employers navigate apprenticeships, technical education funding, and workforce development, and manage the Young Apprenticeship Grant Programme.

Responsibilities

  • Support and monitor the Lancashire Young Apprenticeship Grant programme.
  • Provide impartial advice and guidance to SMEs on apprenticeships and technical education.
  • Promote apprenticeships, skills initiatives, and funding opportunities to employers.
  • Support the growth of the Lancashire Skills Pledge and lead delivery of the Take on an Apprenticeship Pledge.
  • Build strong relationships with employers, schools, colleges, training providers, and partner organisations.
  • Organise and attend business events, presentations, forums, and networking activities.
  • Collect, analyse and report on project performance and impact.
  • Develop engaging case studies and success stories.
  • Support innovative skills and youth employment initiatives linked to Lancashire's growth sectors.
  • Contribute to communications and marketing activity, including social media and promotional campaigns.
  • Support the development of new opportunities arising through devolution and the Lancashire Combined County Authority.

Salary £36,363 to £40,777 per annum | Fixed Term 12 month contract | Full Time, 37 hours per week

We are looking for a motivated and proactive team member to support the evolution of technical education activity and Lancashire Skills Pledge. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of Lancashire's skills agenda, helping employers navigate apprenticeships, technical education, funding opportunities, and workforce development support.

About The Role In this role, you will play a key role in supporting Lancashire businesses to enable them to recruit, develop and retain talent through apprenticeships and technical education pathways. Working closely with employers, schools, colleges, training providers, universities, local authorities, and government partners, you will help deliver high-profile initiatives that improve employment opportunities and equip businesses with the skills they need to grow. You will be responsible for managing the Young Apprenticeship Grant Programme, supporting the growth of the Lancashire Skills Pledge, and acting as an ambassador for apprenticeships across Lancashire. You will also stay up to date with developments in apprenticeships, T Levels, Higher Technical Qualifications, and wider technical education policy, translating complex information into practical guidance for employers and stakeholders.

Whilst the role is hybrid, you will be required to be onsite at County Hall in Preston on a regular basis as well as work from other locations across Lancashire. You will be required to provide a car for use in connection with the duties of this post and must be insured for business use.
