Job description

Are you an organised and proactive professional with a passion for keeping projects on track and delivering results? SMT GB is looking for a Project Coordinator to join our Business Development Team on a 12-month fixed-term contract based in Duxford. Reporting to the Programme Delivery Manager, you'll play a vital role in supporting the planning, coordination and governance of business projects. Working with stakeholders across the organisation, you'll help ensure projects are delivered efficiently, on schedule and aligned with business objectives while maintaining accurate documentation, reporting and project controls. This role would be particularly well suited to a recent graduate in a relevant discipline or an individual looking to develop their career in project management within a growing and ambitious organisation.

SMT is currently expanding its project management capability through the introduction of a new Project & Bid Management Office (PBMO). This is an exciting opportunity to join the business at a formative stage and play a key role in supporting the development of the PBMO, helping to define responsibilities, ways of working and collaboration with operational teams across the organisation. The PBMO will support a varied portfolio of projects spanning all SMT divisions and support functions. These projects will typically focus on more complex business change initiatives with higher levels of risk, stakeholder involvement and financial investment. Examples may include the onboarding of new brands and partnerships, organisational change programmes and projects involving significant business investment. In addition to supporting major projects, the PBMO will help colleagues across the business deliver smaller initiatives by providing practical guidance, tools and templates to encourage consistent and effective project delivery. SMT takes a flexible approach to project management, drawing on recognised methodologies and frameworks such as Agile, Waterfall and PRINCE2 where appropriate. We are therefore looking for someone with a broad interest in project management and a willingness to learn, rather than experience of a specific methodology.

  • Support the planning and coordination of projects across the business.
  • Maintain project plans, schedules, reports and project documentation.
  • Coordinate meetings, workshops and governance forums, ensuring actions are tracked and completed.
  • Monitor project progress and maintain risk, assumption, issue and dependency logs.
  • Produce regular project updates, reports and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Support project governance processes and compliance with internal frameworks.
  • Assist with budget tracking, forecasting, invoicing and resource planning activities.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues across multiple departments to support successful project delivery.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of the Project & Bid Management Office (PBMO).
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of project templates, tools and guidance materials for wider business use., Unfortunately, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position now or in the future. Applicants must have the unrestricted right to work in the UK for the duration of their employment.

Please note that we may interview suitable candidates on an ongoing basis and reserve the right to close the vacancy early if a successful appointment is made.

We are looking for an organised and detail-oriented individual who can confidently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Experience maintaining project documentation, reports and tracking tools.

  • A proactive and collaborative approach to work.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using Power BI, CRM systems or project management tools would be advantageous.
  • A qualification in Project Management, Business Management or a related discipline would be beneficial.
  • An interest in business improvement, change management and project delivery.
