Qualifications

We are seeking a highly capable and detail-driven Project Controller to manage the schedule performance of complex, multidisciplinary engineering programs specifically in telecommunications, communications, satellite communications, or related fields.

You will be the scheduling and controlling authority for projects and programs spanning hardware, software, systems integration, and manufacturing—using Microsoft Project, Jira and Confluence as the primary toolsets.

This role is critical to ensuring projects stay aligned to baseline schedules, milestone commitments, and business delivery objectives in a structured, gated engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor financial information using actuals vs. forecast EVM metrics
  • Integrate schedule and cost data to support performance analysis and forecasting.
  • Track resource utilization, burn rates, and cost-to-complete figures.
  • Generate weekly/monthly dashboards showing RAG status, milestones, trends, and variances.
  • Provide input to customer and executive briefings, contract reviews, and PMO boards.
  • Maintain accurate, time-phased data for project reviews and audits.
  • Maintain audit-ready records of all baselines and change control events.
  • Ensure adherence to project control standards, frameworks, and gated review processes.
  • Support customer or internal reviews (e.g., IDRs, PDRs, CDRs).
  • Administer project control tools
  • Ensure accurate data entry, schedule integrity, and backup/version control practices.
  • Build and maintain templates, reports, and macros for repeatable project control practices
  • Act as a key liaison between engineering, PMO, finance, and supply chain.
  • Participate in program reviews, stand-ups, and status meetings.
  • Ensure timely updates from work package owners and team leads
  • Support project managers in tracking risk impact on schedule and cost.
  • Log schedule threats, opportunities, and mitigation plans.
  • Assess impacts of change requests or re-baselining on timeline and resources.
  • Collaborate with engineering, commercial, and program teams to develop realistic and logically linked project plans.
    • 5+ years’ experience in a project scheduling and / or project controls role within complex engineering environments (e.g., defence, satellite, aerospace, or critical infrastructure)
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Project (single and multi-project plans, master schedules, custom fields, resource usage views)
    • Strong working knowledge of project controls techniques, including critical path method (CPM), EVM, dependency mapping
    • Demonstrated ability to track and manage technical and contractual milestones
    • Proven experience working in stage-gated engineering processes (e.g., TRL frameworks, gated reviews)
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills—confident in presenting to technical and executive stakeholders

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

    • Knowledge of Project Online, Primavera P6, or Power BI for dashboarding and reporting
    • Understanding of MoD, DoD, or commercial defence contracting frameworks (FAR/DFARS, ITAR, etc.)
    • Familiarity with risk management tools and integrated RAID logs
    • Relevant certifications (e.g., APM PMQ, PMI-SP, MSP, PRINCE2, or EVM certifications)
