Job summary

Severfield is recruiting a Project Buyer to join the Group Procurement Team in Dalton, Thirsk on a 12 month fixed term contract. You will manage end-to-end procurement for high-value projects, sourcing materials and services on time and within budgets.

Applicants should have prior procurement or buying experience in manufacturing or construction, strong negotiation skills, and experience with ERP/MRP systems. Excellent organisation and stakeholder management are essential.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a procurement or buying role; manufacturing/construction/steel industry preferred.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management and procurement best practices.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Strong numerical, commercial, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage procurement activities for multiple projects from sourcing through to delivery.
  • Work closely with project teams to align procurement plans with project timelines and objectives.
  • Source materials and services at the best market rates while maintaining quality standards.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks that could impact project delivery.
  • Monitor project procurement spend and support budget control.
  • Track material deliveries to meet manufacturing and project requirements.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and system data.
  • Review and approve supplier invoices for payment.
  • Ensure compliance with supply agreements, company policies, and project specifications.

Vacancy Details

In the Project Buyer position you will be part of the Group Procurement Team, where you'll be

procuring project-related materials and services across multiple business units. You'll manage end-to-end procurement activities for high-value projects, ensuring materials are sourced competitively, delivered on time, and aligned with project budgets and requirements.
