Job summary

Bayman Atkinson Smythe Ltd in St Helens is recruiting a Finance Manager – Project Accounting to lead the new function within Financial Control. You’ll oversee project revenue recognition, month-end reporting and controls across an international portfolio, collaborating with Commercial Finance and Operations to test assumptions behind project performance.

You’ll develop team, processes and controls, align with updated revenue policy including IFRS 15 in due course, manage WIP, deferred revenue

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent with 5+ years post-qualification experience.
• Strong project or contract accounting experience in engineering/construction/infrastructure.
• Familiarity with FRS 102; IFRS 15 an advantage.
• Ability to review job cost reports and test project forecasts.
• Experience producing multi-entity management accounts, international/multi-currency.
• Experience managing a team and building finance processes and controls.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Excel; NetSuite/ProScope useful.

Responsibilities

• Lead project accounting and month-end reporting, including gross margin at entity and consolidated level.
• Oversee the Project Summary Report and project balance sheet reconciliations.
• Apply percentage-completion revenue recognition with WIP, deferred revenue, and provisions.
• Reconcile project reporting with job cost reports and explain movements.
• Test project assumptions with Commercial Finance and Operations to improve data quality.
• Maintain strong controls over project balances and intercompany activity.
• Help build the team and establish processes and controls for a growing portfolio.
• Contribute to changes in revenue policy including IFRS 15.
