Job summary

Dynamite Recruitment is seeking a Project Accountant to join our Portsmouth-based finance team on a 6-month Fixed Term Contract. The role focuses on financial reporting, forecasting and management accounts, with a passion for improving processes and controls.

Ideal candidates are ACCA/CIMA qualified with strong accounting expertise, excellent Excel skills and a proactive, stakeholder-facing approach. Hybrid working and a competitive package with up to 10% bonus are on offer.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support accurate and timely financial reporting across the business.
• Prepare and improve management accounts, forecasting and budgeting information.
• Support cash flow, treasury and VAT reporting.
• Review and improve financial processes and controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and financial reporting.
• Support external audits and wider finance projects.
• Work closely with senior stakeholders to provide meaningful financial insight.
• Support the implementation and improvement of finance systems and processes.

This is a varied role suited to an experienced finance professional with a strong background in financial reporting, forecasting and management accounts, alongside an interest in improving financial processes and controls.

The Project Accountant Role:

• Supporting accurate and timely financial reporting across the business
• Preparing and improving management accounts, forecasting and budgeting information
• Supporting cash flow, treasury and VAT reporting
• Reviewing and improving financial processes and controls
• Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and financial reporting

The Ideal Project Accountant Candidate:

• Previous experience in a similar role
• Qualified ACCA/CIMA accountant or equivalent
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting experience
• Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• A process-driven approach with a genuine interest in continuous improvement
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels
• Comfortable working independently, taking ownership and using initiative
