Job summary

Teaching Personnel seeks dedicated Progression Mentors to support young people across Northamptonshire. You will mentor learners home, at schools or in community settings to build life and study skills and plan next steps toward education, training or employment.

The role emphasizes learner-led, solution-focused support, tailoring programmes to individual goals and strengths. A flexible, part-time schedule with induction and ongoing professional development is provided.

Qualifications

• Empathetic, patient and able to build trust quickly.
• Confident working one-to-one in learners' homes or community settings.
• Experience supporting young people with additional needs (e.g., autism, ADHD, SEMH or mental health).
• Motivate and guide young people towards positive outcomes.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Location: Northamptonshire - local to learner (home, school or community-based mentoring)

About the Role

TP Tutors is looking for dedicated and empathetic Progression Mentors to support young people across Northamptonshire who are disengaged from education or preparing for their next steps.

This is a person-led, outcomes-focused role, working one-to-one with learners in their home, school or community setting. You will help young people build the skills, confidence and direction they need to progress into education, training or employment.

The role focuses on life skills, study skills and future planning rather than academic tutoring. Each programme is tailored to the individual learner, taking into account their goals, interests, strengths and circumstances.

What You'll Be Doing

• Deliver one-to-one mentoring sessions.
• Support learners to identify personal goals and plan their next steps.
• Develop study skills, organisation and problem-solving abilities.
• Help learners build life skills, including time management, independence and financial awareness.
• Support career exploration, CV writing and interview preparation.
• Help learners understand and engage with education, training and employment pathways.
• Work with families to establish positive routines and encourage engagement.
• Support learners in building confidence, resilience and motivation.
• Track learner progress and complete session reports.
• Encourage participation in positive activities and opportunities within the local community.

What This Role Is Not

• No academic tutoring.
• No personal care or medical responsibilities.
• No behaviour restraint or manual handling.
