Reports to: Youth Services Manager
Hours of work: Full Time (37.5 hours per week) 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist young people to improve their life skills through designing and implementing life and social skills programmes in individual and group work settings.
- Support and encourage young people to undertake the St Basils life skills programme and achieve the qualification.
- Encourage and motivate young people to engage with and sustain education, training, and employment opportunities.
- Support young people's progress, working innovatively and flexibly to assist with any problems which may arise.
- Refer young people for opportunities in work experience and employment as appropriate.
- Establish and develop links with training providers, employers, volunteering networks, etc., to improve access to training opportunities.
- Identify and recommend additional resources and services appropriate to the client group.
- Maintain accurate records of all young people's action plans and progress.
- Undertake holistic risk and needs assessments and develop support and risk management plans.
- Support and encourage young people to develop positive family and other support networks.
- Prepare young people to take up and sustain settled accommodation and continue to provide ongoing support.
- Be available to young people for regular support sessions and respond to crises.
- Take responsibility for safeguarding the welfare of young people.
- Promote and facilitate young people's participation in their individual support plans and service management.
- Facilitate young people's access to and uptake of other support services.
- Ensure benefit claims are made and maintained to maximize young people's income.
- Organize and accompany young people to appointments as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records, e.g., support plans, day-to-day records.
- Be flexible by being available out of hours on a rota basis to offer information, advice, and guidance, and respond to crises.
- Work as part of a team, providing cover for colleagues as required by the line manager.
