Job Title: Progression Coach - Birmingham

Reports to: Youth Services Manager

Salary: Scale 5, Points 24-25, £24,618 - £25,399, Pro Rata

Hours of work: Full Time (37.5 hours per week), 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist young people in improving their life skills by designing and implementing life and social skills programmes in individual and group settings.
  2. Support and encourage young people to undertake the St Basils life skills programme and achieve the qualification.
  3. Encourage and motivate young people to engage with and sustain education, training, and employment opportunities.
  4. Support young people's progress by working innovatively and flexibly to address any problems that arise.
  5. Refer young people to work experience and employment opportunities as appropriate.
  6. Establish and develop links with training providers, employers, volunteering networks, etc., to improve access to training opportunities.
  7. Identify and recommend additional resources and services suitable for the client group.
  8. Maintain accurate records of all young people’s action plans and progress.
  9. Undertake holistic risk and needs assessments and develop support and risk management plans.
  10. Support young people in developing positive family and support networks.
  11. Prepare young people to secure and sustain settled accommodation and provide ongoing support.
  12. Be available for regular support sessions and respond to crises.
  13. Take responsibility for safeguarding the welfare of young people.
  14. Promote young people's participation in their support plans and service management.
  15. Facilitate access to and uptake of other support services.
  16. Ensure benefit claims are made and maintained to maximise income.
  17. Organise and accompany young people to appointments as needed.
  18. Maintain accurate records, including support plans and daily records.
  19. Be flexible by being available out of hours on a rota to provide advice, guidance, and emergency support.
  20. Work as part of a team, providing cover for colleagues as required.
  21. Assist in preparing accommodation, including some cleaning duties.
  22. Support in the induction of new staff and supervise volunteers, trainees, and students as required.
