Job summary

Lewisham College in London is seeking a dedicated Progress Coach to support learners throughout their studies and help them achieve successful outcomes. You will manage a caseload, monitor attendance and progression, hold one-to-one reviews, and help learners set targets using Electronic ILPs; identify those at risk and coordinate timely support.

A good education or professional qualification, Level 2 English and maths, and safeguarding knowledge are essential.

Progress Coach

Lewisham College is seeking a dedicated and organised Progress Coach to support learners throughout their studies and help them achieve successful outcomes.

Working closely with academic tutors and support teams, you will manage a designated caseload of learners, monitor attendance, progress and assessment submissions, and hold effective one-to-one reviews. You will help learners set and review meaningful targets through their Electronic Individual Learning Plans, identify those at risk of falling behind, and coordinate timely support and referrals. You will also contribute to tutorial activities covering personal development, employability, enrichment and progression to further study or employment.

You will have a good standard of education or relevant professional qualifications, together with Level 2 English and maths qualifications, or be working towards them. You must have experience of working in education or a related setting and of providing advice, guidance or education to young people. An awareness of and empathy with the needs of 16-18 year old learners, sound knowledge of safeguarding, equality, diversity and confidentiality, and the ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries are essential.

You will be an effective communicator with strong organisation and IT skills, able to prioritise your workload and work collaboratively with students, colleagues, parents, external agencies and other stakeholders. Experience of student support, group delivery, mentoring or coaching, and qualifications in Information, Advice and Guidance or teaching would be advantageous.
