Job summary

South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority is seeking a Programme Officer – Growth to support planning, coordination and delivery of regeneration and economic development programmes across South Yorkshire. As Programme Officer – Growth, you'll support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of regeneration and economic development projects, working closely with local authorities, funding bodies, delivery partners and stakeholders to ensure programmes are successfully delivered and achieve their intended impact.

About the role

As a Programme Officer within the Growth team, you will play a key role in supporting the planning, coordination and delivery of growth and regeneration programmes across South Yorkshire's designated Growth Areas. Working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, you'll help manage projects, monitor progress, coordinate stakeholders and support robust governance and reporting arrangements. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys seeing projects move from concept to delivery and wants to contribute to initiatives that create jobs, attract investment and strengthen local communities.

In this role, you will:
  • Support the day-to-day delivery of regeneration, growth and economic development projects across South Yorkshire.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with local authorities, delivery partners, funders, communities and other key stakeholders.
  • Monitor programme performance, maintain project documentation and help manage risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Prepare reports, presentations and briefing materials for senior leaders, governance boards and stakeholders.
  • Support funding, procurement and budget monitoring activities to ensure projects are delivered effectively and compliantly.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of programme management processes and support the sharing of lessons learned across projects.

You will be an organised and proactive professional who enjoys working with a variety of stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes. You'll be comfortable managing competing priorities, maintaining attention to detail and finding practical solutions to challenges, while keeping projects moving forward and focused on achieving results.

  • Experience of managing or supporting complex projects or programmes, ideally within regeneration, economic development or a place-based environment.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver work to deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience of monitoring progress and producing reports.
  • Experience of budget monitoring, procurement processes or programme governance activities.
  • A passion for growth, regeneration and creating opportunities that benefit businesses, communities and the wider regional economy.
