Job summary

NWSSP is seeking an experienced Programme Manager (NHS AfC: Band 8a) to lead a major national transformation across workforce technology and services for NHS Wales and England. The role focuses on governance, stakeholder and supplier management, and benefits realisation, with flexible/home working options.

The post involves leading cross-functional teams, delivering change at scale and ensuring successful adoption of new workforce systems within an 18-month fixed-term/secondment arrangement.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in a relevant subject.
  • Project/Programme management office qualification (PRINCE2, MSP or equivalent).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; proven problem-solving in project delivery.

We're looking for an experienced and ambitious programme leader with expertise in areas such as:

  • Large-scale programme and project delivery
  • Digital and business transformation

Working at the heart of a major national transformation programme, you'll provide leadership across multiple workstreams, ensuring delivery remains aligned to strategic objectives, timelines, budgets and expected outcomes.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will support the delivery of implementation activity across a defined group of organisations, supporting them prepare for transition, implementation and early adoption. Working alongside NHS organisations, NHSBSA and suppliers, the role will establish change management approaches to support effective delivery of agreed activity.
You will support implementation by leading business process change, organisational readiness and benefits realisation activities. You will work with stakeholders across the organisation to assess change impact, redesign business processes, support adoption of new ways of working, and help maximise the benefits of the solution. Reporting to the Strategic Delivery Lead, the postholder will work autonomously but in collaboration with the NHSBSA , the consortium and colleagues across the organisation.
You will work with NHS organisations to provide practical guidance and follow-up on agreed actions that strengthen local capability, readiness and adoption. You will also support stakeholder engagement, communicate information clearly and escalated risks or barriers where required.
The role will support and Monitor change readiness throughout the programme lifecycle, providing assurance that the organisation is on track for successful adoption. You will monitor progress, identify where corrective action may be required and contribute to continuous improvement, training, audit and successful project delivery.

Qualifications and Knowledge
  • Educated to Masters degree level in a relevant subject of equivalent experience
  • Evidence of Continued professional development
  • Project and/or Programme management office qualification, PRINCE 2, MSP or equivalent experience

  • Experience of management and managing successful projects at a senior level
  • Effective partnership working in the public sector
  • Significant experience of successfully delivery change projects in complex and challenging programme environments
  • Experience of effective stakeholder working with external bodies
