Job summary

Education Partnership North East seeks an inspiring educator to teach Business and lead programmes across our curricula at Northumberland College's new Ashington campus.

You will work with the Curriculum Manager, develop innovative teaching with technology, and build links with employers to enhance learner experience. A Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one is required. We offer progression opportunities and a supportive environment.

About the College

Northumberland College is Ofsted Outstanding and is currently building a multi-million, state of the art, new college campus in Ashington, due to open in 2026. The successful candidate will be based at the new college where a purpose-built construction, housing, advanced manufacturing and engineering centre will be located.

Curriculum spans technical, vocational further and higher education and includes large apprenticeship provision and dedicated centres for young people with SEND.

The College has two main campuses in Ashington, and Ponteland, and as part of the college group Education Partnership Northeast, it also has a significant number of satellite delivery centres across the region

Served by easy road links, and the new train station in Ashington, when Northumberland College opens its new Department for Education backed campus at Wansbeck Business Park, the college will boast a national trailblazer both in architectural design and operation. This major £52 million+ investment comes on top of the College recently driving £14million into new facilities and resources at its existing sites.

Taking Teaching Further & Additional Incentives

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to combine outstanding teaching with programme leadership within our Business curriculum area. Working closely with the Curriculum Manager, you will lead and develop high-quality programmes that prepare students for further study and employment. You will have the opportunity to influence curriculum design, develop new programmes, utilise innovative teaching technologies, and work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an exceptional learner experience. The role offers excellent opportunities for professional development, leadership experience, industry engagement, and continuous enhancement of teaching and learning practices.

Role Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across Business programmes.
  • Lead the planning, review and continuous improvement of curriculum content, schemes of learning and programme performance.
  • Monitor student progress, attendance, achievement and wellbeing, implementing timely interventions where required.
  • Provide effective academic guidance, pastoral support and progression advice to students throughout their learner journey.
  • Maintain accurate course and student records, ensuring compliance with quality assurance and awarding body requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, employers and external stakeholders to enhance student outcomes and develop curriculum opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Level 4 qualification in a Business-related subject.
  • GCSE Grade C/ Grade 4 or above (or equivalent) in English.
  • GCSE Grade C/ Grade4 or above (or equivalent) in Mathematics.
  • DBS clearance and suitability to work with children and young people.
  • Experience planning and delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Experience leading, coordinating or developing educational programmes or curriculum activities.
  • Ability to monitor and support student progress, achievement and personal development.
  • Experience of creating inclusive learning environments that support diverse learner needs.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and analyse performance data.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with students, colleagues, employers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to use digital technologies effectively to enhance teaching, learning and student engagement.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Current knowledge of business industry practices and trends
  • Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance qualification.
  • Experience of internal and external quality assurance processes within Further or Higher Education.
  • Experience of programme leadership, curriculum planning or course management.
  • Experience developing employer partnerships and industry engagement opportunities.
  • Microsoft Innovative Educator certification or other digital learning qualifications.
  • Experience supporting students with EHCPs, additional learning support needs or SEND requirements.
