Job summary

Northumberland College is seeking a Programme Leader for Business within the Commercial Industries team, based in Northumberland. The post is full-time and permanent, offering a salary of £31,375 to £40,912 per annum.

You will lead and develop high-quality business programmes, work with industry partners, and contribute to curriculum design and learner outcomes, while supporting safeguarding and inclusion. The college supports professional development and values student success.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 4 qualification in a Business-related subject.
• GCSE English grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
• GCSE Maths grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
• DBS clearance and suitability to work with children and young people.
• Experience planning and delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment.
• Experience leading, coordinating or developing educational programmes or curriculum activities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across Business programmes.
• Lead the planning, review and continuous improvement of curriculum content, schemes of learning and programme performance.
• Monitor student progress, attendance, achievement and wellbeing, implementing timely interventions where required.
• Provide effective academic guidance, pastoral support and progression advice to students throughout their learner journey.
• Maintain accurate course and student records, ensuring compliance with quality assurance and awarding body requirements.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, employers and external stakeholders to enhance student outcomes and develop curriculum opportunities.

About The College

Northumberland College is Ofsted Outstanding and is currently building a multi-million, state of the art, new college campus in Ashington, due to open in 2026. The successful candidate will be based at the new college where a purpose-built construction, housing, advanced manufacturing and engineering centre will be located.

Curriculum spans technical, vocational further and higher education and includes large apprenticeship provision and dedicated centres for young people with SEND.

The College has two main campuses in Ashington, and Ponteland, and as part of the college group Education Partnership Northeast, it also has a significant number of satellite delivery centres across the region

Served by easy road links, and the new train station in Ashington, when Northumberland College opens its new Department for Education backed campus at Wansbeck Business Park, the college will boast a national trailblazer both in architectural design and operation. About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to combine outstanding teaching with programme leadership within our Business curriculum area. Working closely with the Curriculum Manager, you will lead and develop high-quality programmes that prepare students for further study and employment. You will have the opportunity to influence curriculum design, develop new programmes, utilise innovative teaching technologies, and work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an exceptional learner experience. Desirable Skills & Experience – (Optional)

• Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
• Level 3 Assessor qualification.
• Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance qualification.
• Experience of internal and external quality assurance processes within Further or Higher Education.
• Experience of programme leadership, curriculum planning or course management.
• Experience developing employer partnerships and industry engagement opportunities.
• Microsoft Innovative Educator certification or other digital learning qualifications.
• Experience supporting students with EHCPs, additional learning support needs or SEND requirements.
