What Is the Opportunity?

We are seeking a Professional Indemnity Lawyer to join our in-house team in Manchester or London. You will be part of a leading Claims team specializing in Professional and Financial Lines claims, managing a challenging caseload, working with customers, internal partners, and external vendors to deliver excellent customer experiences and outcomes. Responsibilities include investigating claims, developing strategies, and setting reserves.

Travelers Europe offers flexible working arrangements, including a hybrid model of three days in the office and two days remote, subject to policy changes.

What Will You Do?

• Manage claims daily, conducting early investigations into policy coverage, liability, quantum, and setting reserves.
• Provide legal assistance to insureds, developing strategies for optimal outcomes.
• Build relationships with clients, communicating cover positions and strategies.
• Negotiate claim settlements.
• Ensure vendors deliver cost-effective, high-quality services.
• Collaborate with team members and participate in projects.
• Foster relationships across departments like underwriting, risk management, and actuarial to create solutions.
• Partner with Client Relationship and Underwriting teams to strengthen customer relationships.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

• Extensive experience and sound judgment in handling Financial Lines, especially Solicitors professional negligence claims.
• Technical expertise with a proven track record managing key client accounts, addressing industry trends, and mitigating risks.
• Strong communication skills.
• Intermediate skills in strategic planning, business perspective, relationship building, influence, teamwork, and credibility.
• ACII or equivalent insurance certification preferred.

What Is a Must Have?

• Legal Degree / LLB (or equivalent).
• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive.
• Some prior insurance-related experience (e.g., paralegal, insurance operations, broker).
