Job summary

South East Water is seeking a Process Technician to join our team that keeps the water flowing for millions of customers. You will operate and maintain production sites, reservoirs and pumping stations, ensuring continuous supply by monitoring and optimising water treatment processes.

You’ll work 37 hours a week (7.00am to 7.00pm, Monday to Sunday) with standing rota duties and standby allowances. A company van is provided to support site work and duties.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working in process operations.
  • Medically able to work in confined spaces.
  • A valid driving licence.
  • Confident using IT and computers.
  • Good attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor and maintain water production sites to ensure reliable operation.
  • Control use of chemicals within treatment processes, including receipt and delivery.
  • Assist with Confined Space Entry when required (3+ people).
  • Liaise with contractors and supervise works on sites.
  • Complete administration for reactive and planned maintenance.

You’ll take up this crucial role as a Process Technician to join our team that keep the water flowing for millions of customers every day. You’ll use your skills, know-how and attention to detail, along with a dependable approach, to operate and maintain our production sites, reservoirs and pumping stations.


You’ll manage water level and flow within our reservoirs and pumping stations to ensure we provide a continuous water supply to the communities we serve.


Experience in water treatment processes would be useful but isn’t essential. Ideally, you’ll have experience in process operations or an electrical / mechanical engineering background.


You’ll operate, maintain and manage our water production sites by monitoring, optimising and continuously improving water treatment processes. Your attention to details means that data will be correctly recorded and work management systems updated accurately.


It’s crucial that you’re an agile team player and confident working alone. We provide a company van for this role. Working hours are 37 hours per week (7.00am to 7.00pm, Monday to Sunday).


After your initial training, you’ll be required to participate in a 1in5 standby rota to respond to incidents out of hours and at weekends. In return, we pay a standby Allowance (c. £2,000 per annum) plus overtime rates.

Main responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the operating, monitoring, controlling, checking and maintenance of water treatment process at water production sites ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of our production works and associated sites

  • Control and monitor correct use of chemicals within the treatment processes, including receipt and delivery.

  • Assisting other members of the Production team with Confined Space Entry where 3 or more bodies are required to complete a job.

  • Liaise, supervise and work with contractors while they undertake works on sites.

  • Complete all necessary administration associated with reactive and planned maintenance work

  • Carry out any general site duties – for example, ensuring sites are in a clean and tidy condition.

  • Monitor and maintain security of production site

  • Issue Permits to Work where required

  • Assist with capital works as and when required

  • Adhere to all Health & Safety legislation, company policies and Production “Standard Operating Procedures” (SOP)

  • Take part in a Standby rota to provide out of hours support to the operational area


You’ll need:


  • Experience of working in process operations

  • Medically able to work in confined spaces

  • A valid driving licence

  • Confident using IT and computers

  • Good attention to detail

Compensation package:

£35,630 - £44,188 p.a. (dependant on experience) + Company Van.
