Job summary

South East Water is hiring a Process Technician to operate and maintain water treatment processes across production sites, reservoirs and pumping stations. You will monitor, optimise and improve treatment processes and ensure accurate data recording and work management entries.

The role requires a driving licence, IT literacy and attention to detail; there is a standby rota with out-of-hours support and a company van is provided.

Responsibilities

You’ll use your skills, know-how and attention to detail, along with a dependable approach, to operate and maintain our production sites, reservoirs and pumping stations.You’ll manage water level and flow within our reservoirs and pumping stations to ensure we provide a continuous water supply to the communities we serve.Experience in water treatment processes would be useful but isn’t essential. Ideally, you’ll have experience in process operations or an electrical / mechanical engineering background.You’ll operate, maintain and manage our water production sites by monitoring, optimising and continuously improving water treatment processes. Your attention to details means that data will be correctly recorded and work management systems updated accurately.It’s crucial that you’re an agile team player and confident working alone. We provide a company van for this role. Working hours are 37 hours per week (7.00am to 7.00pm, Monday to Sunday).After your initial training, you’ll be required to participate in a 1in5 standby rota to respond to incidents out of hours and at weekends. In return, we pay a standby Allowance (c. £2,000 per annum) plus overtime rates.We offer a clear career and pay progression structure to encourage your development where you can earn up to £44,188 as you increase your knowledge and abilities. You’ll have access to training to take your knowledge to the next level.This is a great opportunity to grow your career and contribute to the success of our production team.Main responsibilities:Responsible for the operating, monitoring, controlling, checking and maintenance of water treatment process at water production sites ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of our production works and associated sitesControl and monitor correct use of chemicals within the treatment processes, including receipt and delivery.Assisting other members of the Production team with Confined Space Entry where 3 or more bodies are required to complete a job.Liaise, supervise and work with contractors while they undertake works on sites.Complete all necessary administration associated with reactive and planned maintenance workCarry out any general site duties – for example, ensuring sites are in a clean and tidy condition.Monitor and maintain security of production siteIssue Permits to Work where requiredAssist with capital works as and when requiredAdhere to all Health & Safety legislation, company policies and Production “Standard Operating Procedures” (SOP)Take part in a Standby rota to provide out of hours support to the operational areaYou'll need:Skills / Qualifications / ExperienceExperience of working in process operationsMedically able to work in confined spacesA valid driving licenceConfident using IT and computersGood attention to detailIt will be a bonus if you have:Skills / Qualifications / ExperienceExperience in water treatment processesWater industry recognised qualificationsEmployees are required to be flexible and to be prepared to perform duties and other tasks within their capabilities.
