Job summary

Southern Water is seeking a Process Technician - Electrician in Chichester to maintain and repair wastewater treatment works, sludge centres and pumping stations across sites from Portsmouth to Bognor. You will undertake reactive and planned maintenance, install new plant, respond to alarms, and provide technical expertise to contractors.

The role requires an Essential Level 3 NVQ Electrical qualification, a full UK driving licence, and the ability to work across multiple sites with a 38-hour

  • Strong understanding of pumping station operation and wastewater treatment process.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Desirable experience in the water industry.

Job description

Closing Date 2026-09-10 Process Technician - Electrician Location: Chichester - you will also need to be willing to travel across multiple sites from Portsmouth to Bognor and have a current full driving licence. Contract Type: Permanent Hours: 38 hours Salary: Base pay ranges from £38,247.41 - £45,896.13 per annum (depending on skills and experience)

About the role

Join our Wastewater Treatment Team to maintain and repair wastewater treatment works, sludge centres, and pumping stations. Ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety standards while supporting continuous improvement.

What you will be responsible for
  • Undertake reactive and planned maintenance of plant and equipment.
  • Install new plant and equipment as required.
  • Respond to alarms and fault-find issues, fixing or escalating as needed.
  • Carry out inspection and testing on electrical equipment following company procedures.
  • Provide technical expertise to internal and external contractors.
  • Update company systems and databases accurately and promptly.

  • There may opportunities to work Standbys and over time in the future
What you’ll bring to the role
  • Essential Level 3 NVQ Electrical qualification with certificates.
