Job Description
Wood is recruiting for Production Technicians on an 18-month fixed-term basis for CNOOC Golden Eagle. This role mobilizes from Aberdeen on a 2*3 rotation.
Responsibilities
Role Overview:
- Production technicians should have an overall working knowledge of plant, process, and associated equipment for their specific industry. Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and operating equipment,
- Gathering data and maintaining records,
- Carrying out isolations and de-isolations as required,
- Preparation of work permits,
- Preparation of complex items of plant and equipment for maintenance,
- Preparation of complex items of plant and equipment for start-up operations.
- Production technicians are also expected to identify malfunctions or failures within the plant/process/equipment.
- Carry out first-line corrections if required by role.
- A production technician must be able to interpret Process & Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID).
- Production technicians should be fully familiar with and competent to operate essential safety equipment.
- Undertake task-based risk assessments and mitigate hazards following company procedures.
- Communicate effectively in various formats (verbal, written, I.T.) with team members for information transfer and shift handover.
- Have an understanding of industrial processes and practices.
Qualifications
Prerequisite/Premobilisation Qualification Requirements:
- (S)VQ Processing Operations: Hydrocarbons at Level 3 or relevant apprenticeship, or HNC/D with experience
- Suitable experience in the role
Knowledge & Skills
The production technician will:
- Have competencies to observe, gather, report process data, perform isolations, diagnose faults, and handle plant/process/equipment.
- Have knowledge of health, safety, environmental regulations, and safe working practices.
- Follow responsibilities regarding reporting lines and procedures.
- Understand preparation and reinstatement requirements for work areas, materials, and equipment.
- Suggest and develop modifications to improve plant/equipment safety and efficiency.
- Know which tools and equipment to use, and follow relevant procedures and safety standards.
- Recognize defects and faults, and take appropriate actions.
- Utilize digital information, technology, and equipment for work tasks and communication.
- Use permitting and authorization procedures to ensure safety.
- Read and interpret P&ID drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Identify defects and assist with remedial activities.
- Be aware of safe isolation and reinstatement guidance.
Technical Competencies
Competencies may include:
- Safe isolation and de-isolation,

- Safe systems of work.
Assurance of competence is usually achieved on-site.
