The Whittan Group is the largest manufacturer of steel storage products in the United Kingdom. Operating through a number of market leading brands; we design, manufacture and install storage solutions for commercial and industrial environments in the UK and Europe.

We are looking for a Team Leader who will have responsibility for the day-to-day running of the production press department. The Team Leader will control and coordinate all production processes within the department ensuring full compliance of all Health and Safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the supply of pressed parts to the paint plant.
  • Ensure the daily picking list is completed in priority order and on time.
  • Ensure all orders are picked in line with the paint plant production plan.
  • Monitor adherence to plan.
  • High levels of communication with Team Leaders in other departments is critical.
  • Escalate shortages immediately to planning and the line manager.
  • Attend daily production meeting.
  • Maintain high standard of stock control and identification of parts.
  • Manage high levels of health & safety at all times.
  • Deliver high standards of quality.
  • Absence Management.
  • Implement standards operating procedures (SOP) where possible.
  • Implement and drive continuous improvement within your department.

Required Experience/skills/qualifications

  • PC Literate
  • Good communication skills
  • Be able to build and maintain healthy working relationships.
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship.
  • Adaptable to changes within the business and always understand the customer’s focus.
  • Must be able to understand all aspects of Health & Safety in and around the workplace as per all instructions communicated from within the business.
  • An understanding of the OTD and OTIF customer focus.

Desirable

  • Health & Safety qualification e.g., IOSH Managing Safely
  • Management qualification (ILM Level 2/3)
  • Understanding of HR policies and procedures such as absence, investigation etc.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing techniques such as 5S, SMED, TPM and how to implement
