Job summary

DCS Recruitment is seeking a Production Support Operative to join a well-established aerospace manufacturer in Greater Manchester. The role focuses on packaging, despatch and general production support in a hands-on environment.

You will hand package high-quality components, prepare goods for despatch, and organise transport via internal drivers and external couriers. Local driving and forklift duties may be required while maintaining safety and housekeeping standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in packaging and despatch within a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
• Stores or warehouse experience is essential.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling components.
• Reliable, organised, and capable of working as part of a team.
• Able to follow safety procedures and 5S standards.

Responsibilities

• Hand package small aerospace components ready for external treatments or final delivery.
• Prepare components for despatch and ensure proper packaging.
• Organise transport using internal drivers, TNT and external courier services.
• Carry out local driving duties for delivery and collection of goods.
• Support basic sheet metal and assembly tasks as required.
• Carry out ad-hoc forklift duties to support staff.
• Provide general production and handyman support across the manufacturing environment.
• Ensure all work is performed safely and in line with Health & Safety procedures.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and adhere to 5S standards.
• Collaborate with production, stores and despatch teams to move goods efficiently.

£13.53 per hour, increasing to £14.20 following successful completion of probation

We are looking for an experienced Production Support Operative to join a well-established aerospace manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous packaging, despatch or stores experience who enjoys working within a varied, hands‑on manufacturing environment.

The business manufactures high-quality aerospace components and is looking for someone to support its packaging, despatch and general production operations.

This role would suit an existing Storesperson, Despatch Operative or Production Operative who takes pride in their work, has excellent attention to detail and is looking to work within a clean, tidy and professional manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Hand package small, high-quality aerospace components ready to be sent for external treatments, including paint, or for final delivery.
• Prepare components and goods for despatch, ensuring they are packaged correctly and handled with care.
• Organise transport using internal drivers, TNT and external courier services.
• Carry out local driving duties for the delivery and collection of goods.
• Support basic operational requirements, including basic sheet metal and assembly activities.
• Carry out ad-hoc forklift duties as required to support other members of staff.
• Provide general production and handyman support across the manufacturing environment when required.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and comply with the company’s 5S standards.
• Work closely with production, stores and despatch teams to support the efficient movement of goods.

Key Skills

• Previous packaging and/or despatch experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Previous stores, warehouse or production support experience.
• Good attention to detail when handling and packaging high-quality components.
• Reliable and organised approach to work.
• Ability to work effectively within a manufacturing environment.
• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a wider production team.
• Willingness to undertake varied duties and support different areas of the operation when required.
• Commitment to safe working practices and maintaining 5S standards.

Desirable Skills

• Previous experience within an aerospace or precision engineering manufacturing environment.
• Previous forklift experience.
• Experience carrying out local delivery and collection duties.
• Basic sheet metal or assembly experience.
• Previous experience working within a stores or despatch function.
