Product Application Support

The Morgan Stanley (www.morganstanley.com) Market Data Support Team is part of the real-time market data (RTMD) production management group, responsible for support and maintenance of core market data platforms. The team supports our distribution system, which supplies real-time data to clients, including direct exchange feeds, vendor feeds, and in-house feeds.

The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, a broad sense of ownership, proactive attitude, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.

Core Role Activities

1. Work alongside existing team members on a shift basis.
2. Monitor systems and manage outages daily.
3. Handle Ready For Business (RFB) cover and checkouts.
4. Manage end-of-day processes and checkouts.
5. Manage the RTMD hotline.
6. Participate in project management related to system upgrades and expansions.
7. Perform fault finding based on problem tickets and escalations.
8. Collaborate with feed integration teams to facilitate changes.
9. Conduct weekend checks and RFB procedures.
10. Provide on-call support as required.
11. Maintain global monitoring processes.
12. Liaise with vendors and exchanges regarding data and feed issues.
13. Implement and roll out new services and products.
14. Perform software decommissioning, installation, and upgrades following change control procedures.
15. Support global Market Data teams using a follow-the-sun support model.
16. Act as an escalation point for application support groups.
17. Validate new services during implementation and rollout.
18. Document and adhere to operational and technical standards, processes, and procedures.
19. Understand and apply contractual and operational requirements.
20. Identify and implement improvements in operational and technical processes.
21. Log incident and problem tickets to manage incidents to resolution.
22. Manage Jira tasks via Kanban Board.
23. Participate in Firm Disaster Recovery testing.

Required Skills

• Good understanding of Linux and Unix platforms and commands.
• Unix shell scripting skills.
• Programming skills in Perl/Python.
• Knowledge of Unix troubleshooting tools (grep, awk).
• Experience with Unix system administration and security.
• Experience with network and real-time messaging technologies (Multicast, TCP/IP, UDP, SNMP).
• Strong network diagnostic skills.
• Experience with incident management in IT environments.

Additional Useful Skills

• Understanding of market data categories and concepts.
• Experience with market data from vendors like Reuters or Bloomberg.
