Job summary

Morrisons is seeking a Department Manager to lead a fast-paced production/warehousing operation. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will drive KPI delivery, coach a large team and build strong supplier relationships to ensure site performance and compliance.

The role is 5 days from 7, 2pm–10pm, with weekend work expected. You will monitor waste, OEE, and costs while supporting continuous improvement and staff development in a busy food manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience as Department Manager/Shift Manager or equivalent.
  • Experience in a large-scale production/warehouse operation, ideally in Food Manufacturing.
  • Ability to coach and develop teams and drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and capability to implement process changes.
  • Experience in managing budgets and controlling costs.
  • Leadership skills to engage, motivate and develop large teams.

This role is 5 days from 7, 2pm - 10pm - to include some weekend working

Reporting into the Production Manager you would also be responsible for:

  • Leading your team to successfully deliver your lines KPI's and drive business performance
  • You will coach, develop and lead your staff and establish a continuous improvement culture
  • You will work closely with internal and external suppliers and will build strong, effective relationships ensuring that the site is legally compliant
  • You will ensure that all levels of waste are recorded, and are accurate including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and potential efficiency; accuracy and waste recording; downtime; product weights; and staff efficiency

More about you

As well as tons of resilience you must have:

  • Experience of a Department Manager/Shift Manager or equivalent
  • Experience in a large scale production/warehouse operation, ideally across Food Manufacturing
  • The ability to coach and encourage your team and help them explore opportunities to continuously improve how they do their job
  • The ability to problem solve, and implement process changes in order to improve operational performance
  • Experience of managing budgets and controlling costs
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills in order to engage motivate and develop large teams with varying skill sets
