We are looking to recruit a Production Process Engineer to join our Manufacturing Production Engineering team based at our facility in Whitley. This role is central to ensuring production of printed circuit boards (pcbs) and products to the highest standards of design and manufacturing excellence.

Main Purpose of Role:

As a Production Process Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the process flow of manufactured products from printed circuit board assembly (pcba) through to top level assembly. You will produce effective assembly methods, standard operating procedures, control of document surveys, furnished product routings, inspection checklists for product setup and improve the efficiencies of our assembly lines.

This is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract role.

The Ideal candidate:

To be successful in this role you must have proven hands-on experience in production process engineering and have a relevant engineering degree, or equivalent experience. Youwill be a good communicator, collaborative in your approach, with good technical writing skills and a proactive, ‘can-do’ attitude, able to demonstrate problem solving and analytical skills.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Take lead responsibility for conducting and overseeing product manufacture and assembly, from pick and place machines, Waveflow, Selective Soldering through to high level build and furnish product assembly methods and operating procedures,
  • Have lead responsibility for maintaining and updating product document surveys,
  • Be responsible for furnishing accurate product routings and product inspection checklists for operations team,
  • Work closely with process owners and Management to identify issues and establish corrective actions to improve the quality and yields of manufactured products,
  • Responsible for continuous improvement of all levels of manufacturing process technologies, methods and techniques to assist and promote production of reliable, high quality pcbs assemblies,
  • Actively engage in 6S process to develop efficiencies across all areas of the manufacturing,
  • Generate and report performance metrics of manufacturing processes and taking appropriate action to maintain or enhance performance,
  • Draft process maps and provide regular reports on performance metrics for manufacturing and operations processes,
  • Use own initiative to plan and manage individual and team projects,
  • Provide technical support and training for operations team on assembly and build processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Degree in relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ’hands-on’ experience Production Process experience from pcba to top-level assembly,
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, able to clearly explain technical requirements so colleagues understand,
  • Able to present effectively to colleagues at all levels,
  • Good technical writing skills,
  • Good IT Skills,
  • Able to plan and proritise multiple tasks effectively ensuring quality and delivery to required timescales,
  • Able to demonstrate effective problem solving and analytical skills,
  • An effective team worker, collaborative in approach,
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written,
