Job description

We are looking to recruit a Production Process Engineer to join our Manufacturing Production Engineering team based at our facility in Whitley. This role is central to ensuring production of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and products to the highest standards of design and manufacturing excellence.

Main Purpose of Role

As a Production Process Engineer, you will oversee the process flow of manufactured products from printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) through to top-level assembly. Your responsibilities include developing effective assembly methods, standard operating procedures, controlling document surveys, managing product routings, creating inspection checklists for product setup, and improving the efficiencies of our assembly lines.

This is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract role.

The Ideal Candidate

To succeed in this role, you must have proven hands-on experience in production process engineering and possess a relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience. You should be a good communicator, collaborative, with strong technical writing skills, and a proactive, 'can-do' attitude. Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills are essential.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Lead product manufacture and assembly, including pick and place, Waveflow, Selective Soldering, and high-level assembly methods and procedures
  • Maintain and update product document surveys
  • Furnish accurate product routings and inspection checklists
  • Collaborate with process owners and management to identify issues and implement corrective actions to improve quality and yields
  • Continuously improve manufacturing process technologies, methods, and techniques
  • Engage in 6S processes to develop efficiencies
  • Generate and report performance metrics, and take action to enhance processes
  • Draft process maps and provide regular performance reports
  • Plan and manage individual and team projects independently
  • Provide technical support and training to the operations team
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Degree in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • Hands-on experience in production process from PCBA to top-level assembly
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Effective presentation skills
  • Proficient technical writing skills
  • Good IT skills
  • Ability to plan and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Collaborative team worker
