Precision Talent Network Ltd is seeking a Production Planning Manager for a precision heavy engineering operation in Nuneaton. The role leads production planning, coordinates the machine shop, and manages skilled machinists to meet delivery commitments.

The successful candidate will oversee scheduling, process improvements and resource planning in a heavy engineering environment, ensuring efficiency and on-time performance.

Qualifications

• Experience in production planning, workshop management or manufacturing supervision.
• Strong understanding of CNC machining and general engineering processes.
• Experience coordinating workloads and managing skilled engineering personnel.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and understand manufacturing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and coordinate production activities across the machine shop.
• Manage and support a small team of experienced CNC and conventional machinists.
• Prioritise workloads according to customer requirements, production capacity and delivery deadlines.
• Monitor work in progress, identifying potential bottlenecks and implementing practical solutions.
• Liaise with management, purchasing and other departments to ensure materials and resources are available.
• Oversee daily workshop activities, ensuring machines and personnel are utilised effectively.
• Maintain high standards of quality, productivity and health and safety.
• Review production schedules and respond to changing customer priorities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce lead times.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the workshop team when required.
