Job summary

Orion Electrotech Ltd is seeking an organised Production Planner for a contract role in Reading. You will develop and maintain production schedules, manage inventory, and ensure materials are available to meet customer demand.

The role involves close collaboration with Manufacturing, Procurement, Logistics and Quality teams to deliver on-time commitments. You will coordinate RMA processes and support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce lead times and optimise resources.

Qualifications

• Experience in Production Planning, Scheduling or Manufacturing Planning.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of scheduling, inventory control and material planning.
• Experience using ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Excellent Excel and data analysis skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Create daily, weekly and monthly production schedules based on demand and inventory levels.
• Monitor progress and adjust schedules to meet changes in priorities.
• Coordinate RMA activities, repairs, replacements, and returns processing.
• Work with Procurement to ensure materials are available when required.
• Monitor inventory levels and resolve shortages or discrepancies.
• Analyze production performance data and provide KPI reports.

Are you an organised and proactive Production Planner looking for your next contract opportunity? Do you have experience coordinating production schedules, managing inventory and ensuring materials are available to meet customer demand? If so, we'd like to hear from you.

We are supporting a leading technology and manufacturing business in Reading that is seeking a Production Planner to join their Operations team on a contract basis. This is a hands-on role where you'll play a vital part in ensuring production plans, inventory levels and customer commitments are delivered efficiently and on time.

The Role

As Production Planner, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining and optimising production schedules while coordinating closely with Manufacturing, Procurement, Logistics, Quality and Customer Service teams. You will also support RMA processes, ensuring returned products are effectively managed through repair, replacement or rework processes with minimal disruption to operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and manage daily, weekly and monthly production schedules based on customer demand, forecasts and inventory levels.
• Monitor production progress and adjust schedules to meet changing priorities and customer requirements.
• Coordinate RMA activities, including repairs, replacements, rework and returns processing.
• Work closely with Procurement to ensure materials and components are available when required.
• Monitor inventory levels and resolve shortages or discrepancies that could impact production.
• Analyse production performance data and provide regular KPI and planning reports.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing lead times, improving efficiency and optimising resources.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to resolve production, inventory and fulfilment issues.
• Utilise ERP systems to manage schedules, inventory and production performance.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety and regulatory requirements.

About You

• Previous experience in a Production Planning, Production Scheduling, Supply Chain Planning or Manufacturing Planning role.
• Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of production scheduling, inventory control and material planning.
• Experience using ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Excellent Excel and data analysis skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to prioritise multiple activities in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Desirable

• Experience managing or coordinating RMA processes.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Experience within electronics manufacturing environments.
• Understanding of assembly, testing or programming of electronic products.
