Forterra is seeking a motivated Production Operative for our Desford site. You will contribute to safe, efficient manufacturing processes, ensuring products meet quality standards and reducing downtime.

Responsibilities include daily safety checks, monitoring multiple process stages, and completing operator quality sheets, all while adhering to Forterra’s Golden Rules and on-site procedures. Training will be provided; growth opportunities exist within the manufacturing team.

Mansioni

• Carry out daily safety checks at the start of each shift and report issues to the Shift Manager.
• Monitor each stage of the process to ensure correct operation.
• Rectify stoppages or malfunctions and seek assistance when needed.
• Wear PPE at all times and follow safety rules.
• Keep safety systems and dust extraction units working correctly where applicable.
• Complete operator quality check sheets and sign off.
• Keep the working area clean and tidy at all times.
• Report irregularities/health & safety issues to the Shift Manager.
• Follow LOTOTO and safe work procedures for tasks.
• Undertake relevant training and follow Forterra’s Golden Rules.
• Carry out a shift handover with the opposite shift.
• Follow site guidance for vehicles and pedestrians; adhere to site code of conduct.

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Desford team in the position of Production Operative.

The role holder will play a safe and active part in the Manufacturing process, being responsible to ensure all products presented are of best quality, rejecting unsuitable products, whilst safely maintaining minimum downtime in order to ensure all products are made to their designated specifications, to achieve both the kiln requirements and current safety, output and quality targets.

Your duties would include but not limited to the following;

All duties listed must be carried out safely and effectively, work and adhere to Forterra health & safety zero harm policy.

• Start of shift daily safety checks completed and any issues or defects reported immediately to the Shift Manager.
• Constantly monitor each stage of the process to ensure correct operation.
• Rectify all stoppages/malfunctions asking for assistance when needed.
• Ensure all P.P.E is worn at all times.
• Ensure safety systems and dust extraction units are working correctly where applicable.
• Ensure operator quality check sheets are carried out & signed off appropriately.
• Ensure all housekeeping duties are carried out as and when required.
• Ensure the area that you are working in is clean & tidy at all times.
• Report all irregularities/health & safety issues to Shift Manager.
• When entering any guarded area, LOTOTO must be followed, and relevant safe work procedure must be adhered to.
• Always follow risk assessments and SOP’s provided for tasks.
• Undertake any relevant training as requested.
• Always follow Forterra’s Golden Rules.
• Carry out a shift handover with the opposite shift.
• Always follow guidance indicated for vehicles & pedestrians on site.
• Adhere to site code of conduct.

Under no circumstances should machinery be operated if any defects are found with either machinery or safety systems. Failure to comply will result in disciplinary action.

• The job requires no formal education or qualification, the role does require a minimum of 3 months training from competent operator ensuring close supervision during the period, and a competency check procedure carried out on all duties.
