Job summary

Osborne Appointments is recruiting for Production Operatives on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business on the outskirts of Hitchin. This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity with a starting rate of £13.50 per hour, working 8am to 4pm.

You will operate production machinery, weigh materials, monitor quality, and work as part of a team to meet daily targets while maintaining safety and cleanliness. Some roles require driving to access the remote site.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing or production environment.
• Able to meet production deadlines and targets.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Physically able to lift up to 25 kg.

Responsibilities

• Operate production machinery safely and efficiently.
• Weigh and prepare raw materials per production specs.
• Monitor processes to ensure quality standards.
• Load/unload materials and finished products.
• Pack, label and prepare products for dispatch.
• Report faults or defects identified during production.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organized workspace.
• Follow health and safety procedures and policies.
• Work as part of a team to meet daily targets.

Duties of a Production Operative

• Operating production machinery safely and efficiently.
• Weighing and preparing raw materials in line with production specifications.
• Monitoring production processes to ensure products meet quality standards.
• Loading and unloading materials and finished products.
• Packing, labelling, and preparing products for dispatch.
• Carrying out basic quality checks and reporting any faults or defects.
• Maintaining a clean and organised working environment.
• Following all health and safety procedures, company policies, and hygiene standards at all times.
• Working as part of a team to meet daily production targets and deadlines.

Person Specification

• Previous experience working within a manufacturing or production environment.
• The ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet production deadlines.
• A strong work ethic with excellent attention to detail.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• A flexible approach to work and willingness to learn.
• The ability to undertake a physically demanding role, including lifting items weighing up to 25kg.
• A commitment to following health and safety procedures at all times.
• Due to the remote location it is essential that you drive
