Job summary

Pertemps is recruiting a Preparation Operative for a well‑established specialist manufacturer based in Pontypool. You will handle stage‑by‑stage preparation of components, including sanding, drilling and finishing, ensuring quality and accuracy.

Full training is provided and you will join a hands‑on team in a busy production environment with rotating shifts (6:00am–2:00pm and 2:00pm–10:00pm) and paid breaks.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing or hands-on environments is preferred.
• Able to follow a stage-by-stage preparation process.
• Willing to work rotating shifts and handle basic tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare components through stage-by-stage processes.
• Sand components to the required finish and drill holes as specified.
• Finish components ready for production and follow written instructions.
• Use basic hand and power tools and check quality of work.
• Identify defects and keep the area clean, safe and orderly.
• Work as part of the wider manufacturing team.

£13.45 per hour + 15% shift allowance = £15.47 per hou

Pertemps are currently recruiting Preparation Operatives to join a well-established specialist manufacturing business based in Pontypool.

The company manufactures specialist components and products for the automotive sector, and we're looking for people who enjoy practical, hands‑on work to join their busy preparation department.

What will you be doing?

As a Preparation Operative, you'll be responsible for preparing components through a stage‑by‑stage process before they move onto the next stage of production.

Your day‑to‑day duties will include:

• Sanding down components to the required finish
• Drilling holes accurately following specifications
• Preparing and finishing components ready for production
• Following a clear stage‑by‑stage preparation process
• Using basic hand and power tools
• Checking your work to ensure it meets quality standards
• Identifying any defects or issues with components
• Following work instructions and production specifications
• Keeping your work area clean, tidy and safe
• Working as part of the wider manufacturing team

This is a hands‑on role, so you'll need to be comfortable carrying out practical tasks and working accurately to a set process.

Hours & Shift Pattern

You'll work alternating shifts each week:

• Week 1 – 6:00am to 2:00pm
• Week 2 – 2:00pm to 10:00pm

The shifts then continue to alternate weekly.

Previous experience within manufacturing, production, engineering, assembly or another hands‑on environment would be an advantage.
