Job summary

Walker & Son in Leicester produces premium pork pies and prides itself on quality and teamwork. You will be part of the Jelly Department, handling baked pork pies and moving trays and finished pies through a busy workflow.

A strong emphasis is placed on following processes, safety, and continuous improvement so every pie meets our standards. As a Standard Operative, you’ll contribute to a collaborative culture with training and growth opportunities while supporting a well-established family

Qualifications

• Experience in food production is preferred.
• Ability to follow set processes and instructions.
• Capable of working in a fast-paced production line.
• Comfortable handling heavy loads and operating equipment.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Hand weigh toppings onto pies to specification.
• Pour jelly onto pies in line with specification.
• Move trays and finished pies around the department.
• Load and transfer trays and pies on racks, dolly or chiller.
• Operate conveyor and feed into tray wash and JOM machine.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health and safety rules.

About The Role

As a Standard Operative in the Jelly Department, you will handle the baked pork pie products. You will follow set processes to make sure the pies are made safely and to the right standard. You will also move trays and finished pies around the department. This is a fast-paced and labour intensive department with a lot of manual handling.

Key responsibilities

• Hand weigh toppings onto pies to the correct specification
• Pour jelly onto pies in line with the required specification
• Move completed trays back onto the racks
• Move loaded trays from the racks and place them into baskets
• Remove empty trays from the conveyor and feed them into the tray wash
• Feed wire trays into the JOM machine
• Take full trays of jellied pies from the conveyor and transfer them to a dolly
• Move full dollies to the chiller
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health and safety rules
