Job summary

Freudenberg Performance Materials in Wales is seeking a Production Manager to lead our production department shift teams, drive performance, and uphold safety and quality standards in a multi‑shift operation. You will monitor shift performance, manage schedules, support new equipment, and champion SHEQ compliance while collaborating across teams to ensure smooth production and continuous improvement.

This role requires 5–8 years of leadership experience in industrial settings and fluent English,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 5-8 years of leadership experience in an industrial or multi-shift environment.
• Advanced English language skills required.

Responsibilities

• Lead Production Department shift teams and manage shift performance.
• Monitor and report on shift performance and KPI documentation.
• Maintain SHEQ compliance and timekeeping/attendance for production staff.
• Oversee shift schedules, meetings, and production equipment introductions.
• Act as out-of-hours contact and support OPEX initiatives.

Production Manager

Responsibilities

• You will manage our Production Department shift teams. (Note: Currently FPM Ebbw Vale operates 5 day, 24 hour, 3 shift working pattern)
• You will be responsible for monitoring and reporting of shift performance
• You will be responsible for the allocation of shift working schedules
• You will be responsible for the maintenance of shift meetings to ensure efficient shift relationships and cooperation
• You will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of shift & KPI documentation and training records
• You will have HSE representative duties
• You will be responsible for maintenance of SHEQ compliance
• You will be responsible for time keeping and attendance performance of production personnel
• You will have the authority for Production shutdown in respect of both safety and quality issues
• You will Support the introduction of new production equipment and processes
• You will be Responsible for Investigation & Resolution of SHEQ and Production issues
• You will support Operational Excellence (OPEX) program e.g. Policy Deployment, Leader Standard Work, 5S and SMED
• You will act as primary ’out of hours' contact for shift teams

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field. Additional specialist training or further education in relevant process or operational excellence topics.
  Experience: 5-8 years of leadership experience in an industrial or multi‑shift environment. Demonstrated ability to coordinate teams and ensure operational continuity. Significant experience in production line operations within a technical environment (mechanical, ideally plastics or textiles).
  Knowledge: Good understanding of operational best practices and how team workflows integrate into the broader production process. Awareness of competitive factors and elements that differentiate FPM products and processes in the market. Technical understanding of equipment functionality and standard production processes.
  Language Skills: Advanced proficiency in English and fluency in local language required.
