Job summary

MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions in Wantage, Oxfordshire, is seeking Production Operators to join a three-shift manufacturing team. You will contribute to coating department production, operating equipment safely and maintaining quality standards across the line.

No prior production experience is required; full training will be provided. The role offers opportunities for progression, overtime at premium rates, and a range of employee benefits in a dynamic electronics materials environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate pedestrian and/or high lift forklift trucks where applicable.
• Operate machinery following Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Policies.
• Report defective equipment, accidents and breakages.
• Carry out QC tests and report deviations to the Supervisor.
• Record production transactions accurately in SAP/SFoL.
• Provide on-the-job training to new starters when competent.
• Participate in 5S and continuous improvement activities.
• Contribute ideas to improve the department and processes.

Working in one of the three areas of our production facility - Conversion on a rotating 3 shift pattern (Earlies, lates and nights), you will play a key part in the manufacture of technological products for our worldwide business.

Who are we looking for?

Previous production experience isn't necessary, we offer full training and the opportunity to progress your career. We'd love to hear from you if you've got previous work experience gained in other industries such as retail or warehousing. We're looking for keen, ambitious individuals who would like to apply their previous experience in our production facility.

What will you be doing?

Our production areas in the coating department work on a system of three rotating shifts, incorporating early, late and night shifts from Monday through to Friday.

• Operate a pedestrian and / or high lift forklift truck where applicable.
• Operate machinery in accordance with all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
• Ensure compliance with company Health and Safety Policies.
• Report defective equipment. Report all accidents and breakages.
• Carry out QC tests / inspection where appropriate and report any deviations to the Supervisor.
• Report safety and quality issues through the 1B and 1Q systems.
• Report all production transactions to SAP / SFoL in an accurate and timely manner to ensure accurate stock.
• Carry out on the job training of new starters when fully trained and competent, necessary to further the development of the Dept and the individual.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities such as 5S.
• Generate ideas and participate in implementing to make improvements to the Dept.

What competencies will you need?

• Production Experience: Prior experience in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment is preferred.
• Process Understanding: Basic knowledge of chemical production processes and equipment operation.
• Safety & Compliance Awareness: Familiarity with chemical safety, PPE use, and regulatory requirements (e.g., COSHH).
• Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to operate and perform basic troubleshooting on production equipment.
• Quality Focus: Understanding of quality control principles and the importance of product consistency.
• Documentation Skills: Ability to accurately complete production records and follow written procedures.
• Physical Fitness: Capable of performing manual tasks, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in various environmental conditions.
• Education & Training: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certifications in chemical processing or manufacturing are a plus.
