An opportunity has arisen for a Production Manager to join the team at our Hull site.

Our Hull site is an experienced leader in the injection and blow moulding industry, housing state of the art machinery. IPL Hull takes initiative on providing eco-friendly solutions and pride themselves on delivering products specifically tailored to their customers' needs. Key products include the “One Nest” stacking crate, jerry cans, Water Butt, composter, kerbside boxes, food waste containers.

Are you a driven and dynamic leader with experience in delivering through teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment?

If so, this is an ideal opportunity to join us at an exciting time in this integral role, in which you will be accountable for maintaining efficient production processes with high-quality standards, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and leading a team to create a culture of operational excellence.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Manager will set the culture, improve compliance and drive continuous improvement in order to deliver results.

This is a full-time site-based role at our plant in Hull (HU9) working Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities will include:

Operational management

  • Ensure that creating a safe working environment and maintaining a safety first culture is prioritised at all times.
  • Oversee and coordinate the production activities across a 24/7 operation of 4 production shifts.
  • Organise and lead internal daily team meetings with Shift Leaders and Cell Leads in order to investigate and resolve issues that impact production output.
  • Navigate changes to production plans to ensure that revised targets are met.
  • Work with agreed KPIs to measure success (short, medium, and long-term plans), develop actions plans to drive delivery and communicate progress across various levels of the business.

Effective leadership

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a high functioning team, promoting a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
  • Provide effective leadership to your team (4 direct reports, with broader indirect headcount accountabilities), coaching and developing to promote high performance that delivers continuous improvement, added value and cost reductions.
  • Be a champion to the Production team members and be visible to the workforce in our production areas.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to support team members' growth and development.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination between shifts, and across the wider business, to achieve operational goals.

Creating a culture of continuous improvement

  • Actively support and participate in company change programmes, taking a common-sense approach to encouraging operational transformation.
  • Identify, explore and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality or safety.
  • Interpret and analyse data and trends, developing recommendations and strategies for improvement.

Stakeholder collaboration

  • Support the Operations Manager and Finance with accurate forecasts and budgets relevant to the operational remit, specifically in relation to labour costs.
  • Build effective working relationships across the business to ensure delivery.
  • Actively engage with stakeholders across departments to identify any impact on our production, implementing strategies and developing management procedures.

About You

You will have proven leadership experience gained from management roles within an operational remit in manufacturing.

You will be results orientated with the ability to plan and prioritise multiple projects, both individual and of your direct reports, to deliver against objectives and deadlines.

You will role model what great looks like, ensuring that the strengths of your team members are celebrated and continually enhanced, and that development areas are managed as opportunities for growth.

You will be an effective communicator who can coach and develop your team members, as well as engaging collaboratively with stakeholders across the business.

Your exposure to MRP/ERP systems would be advantageous, as would a knowledge of lean techniques.

Notwithstanding your experience to date, you may have achieved a recognised qualification within a management field, and an IOSH certification, though this is not essential.

What we can offer the right candidate

You can expect a competitive salary and a discretionary bonus scheme.

You will also get the option to join a 7% employer contribution pension scheme and have the security of a life assurance benefit of four times your annual salary.

Employee wellbeing is important to us, and team members at IPL Hull can also join a Cycle to Work scheme, have access to an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), and enjoy complimentary breakfast items and fruit throughout the week.

We also host outside of work events that family members can join, making sure that hard work is recognised and rewarded.
