Job summary

ProTech Recruitment Ltd in Hertfordshire is seeking a hands-on Production Manager to own end-to-end production flow, including SMT, AOI, assembly, test and packing. You will lead teams through supervisors, drive on-time delivery, and champion continuous improvement across planning, CI, quality and engineering.

The role focuses on improving structure and performance in a developing environment, balancing people leadership with production delivery, and using KPIs to inform decisions.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Production Manager or Supervisor/Senior Manufacturing leadership role.
• Background in electronics, electro-mechanical, or high-mix manufacturing environments.
• Strong operational mindset with the ability to improve structure and performance in developing environments.
• Proven ability to lead teams through supervisors or team leaders.
• Comfortable balancing people leadership with production delivery requirements.
• Strong understanding of production flow, scheduling, and capacity management.
• Data-driven approach using KPIs to improve performance and decision-making.
• Confident communicator with the ability to drive accountability across teams.
• Hands-on, practical leadership style.

Responsibilities

• Owning end-to-end production flow including SMT, AOI, assembly, test, and packing.
• Managing production schedules and ensuring clear workflow across all manufacturing areas.
• Driving on-time delivery, throughput, and efficiency across the shopfloor.
• Leading production teams through team leaders to ensure consistent execution and communication.
• Monitoring WIP levels and ensuring visibility across all stages of production.
• Identifying risks early and putting recovery plans in place where required.
• Working closely with Planning and CI teams to manage and adjust production schedules.
• Collaborating with Quality and Engineering to resolve production and process issues.
• Driving continuous improvement activities to improve flow, output, and efficiency.
• Using production data and KPIs to drive decision-making and performance improvements.
