Job summary

Thrive Employment in the West Midlands is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead day-to-day manufacturing operations on-site. You will work with the Operations Manager, Project Managers and Installation Team to keep production safe, efficient and to quality standards.

You will coach Section Leaders and staff, manage workflow and deadlines, and act as a key link between the factory floor and senior management, driving continuous improvements and best practices.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence required.
• Ability to start work as early as 6:00am.
• Experience managing people in production/manufacturing.

Production Manager

Location: West Midlands

Salary: £17.39-£18.89 per hour

Hours: Full-time, minimum 40 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday-Friday, with an early start from 6:00am

Work Location: On-site

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Production Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of a busy manufacturing environment.

Working closely with the Operations Manager, Project Managers and Installation Team, you will play a key role in ensuring production runs safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards. You will lead and support Section Leaders and production staff, manage workflow and deadlines, and act as an important link between the factory floor and wider management team.

This is a hands‑on management position suited to someone who enjoys problem‑solving, leading people and maintaining high standards across production, quality and health & safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support Section Leaders and production personnel.
• Ensure operational instructions and production plans are followed effectively.
• Manage the daily activities and performance of the production team.
• Monitor production progress and ensure manufacturing deadlines are achieved.
• Identify and resolve production issues and operational problems.
• Maintain high standards of discipline, conduct and professionalism within the factory.
• Oversee goods in and goods out processes.
• Manage relationships with local suppliers.
• Conduct and monitor thorough quality control checks throughout production.
• Act as the key communication link between production, Operations, Project Management and Installation teams.
• Monitor employee performance and ensure team members are fulfilling their roles effectively.
• Raise employee concerns with the appropriate management or HR team.
• Maintain a safe, organised and productive factory environment.
• Ensure appropriate PPE is being used and safe working practices are followed.
• Ensure machinery and equipment are safe for use.
• Work with engineers and relevant personnel to resolve machinery or equipment issues.
• Monitor materials and ensure they meet the required standards and specifications.
• Identify and report any relevant compliance or material concerns to the appropriate manager.
• Support the Operations and Health & Safety teams in maintaining excellent workplace safety standards.

About You

The successful candidate will be a confident and approachable people manager with experience within a manufacturing or production environment.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience in a Production Manager, Production Supervisor, Factory Manager, Manufacturing Manager or similar role.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• A practical, hands‑on approach to production management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• A high level of attention to detail, particularly around quality and safety.
• The ability to build effective working relationships with employees, management, suppliers and other departments.
• A professional, customer-focused approach.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and commonly used business software.
• The confidence and judgement to address performance, conduct and operational issues appropriately.
