Job Advert: Production Leader (Manufacturing)

- Pay: £40,000-£45,000 per year (£20.00 - £23.00 per hour)
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week
- Shift: Standard days, 8:00am start
- Contract Length: 6‑month contract (potential to extend)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Production Leader to provide strong frontline leadership within a busy manufacturing environment. You will oversee daily operations for a team of 25-30 colleagues, ensuring smooth production flow, high engagement, safe working practices and continuous improvement.
This role requires someone who can hit the ground running, bring significant hands‑on manufacturing leadership experience, and proactively drive performance, efficiency and cost‑reduction activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day frontline leadership and supervision of a 25-30‑person manufacturing team
- Ensure daily operations run smoothly with high team engagement
- Maintain strong focus on Health & Safety standards and compliance
- Drive forward‑looking improvements and operational efficiencies
- Support initiatives to reduce operating costs
- Lead and facilitate TIER 2 daily meetings, working with engineering, planning and safety teams
- Review ongoing activities and discuss forward production plans
- Collate operational data and create daily/weekly reports
- Feed updates, risks and recommendations into Elaine (Production Manager)
- Act as a visible, supportive leader on the shop floor
Experience & Skills Required
Essential
- 5+ years' experience in a manufacturing leadership role
- Strong people‑management and team‑engagement skills
- Proven ability to operate independently and "hit the ground running"
- Ability to manage daily priorities while looking ahead to plan and improve operations
- Confident communicator, able to run structured meetings and cross‑functional discussions
Desirable
- Supervisory, engineering or management‑related qualifications
- Experience with continuous improvement, lean methodologies, or cost‑reduction initiatives
