Job summary

Modis seeks a MES Manager (Production IT) in Derbyshire to lead the Production IT Engineers, maintain stable production systems, and coordinate incident resolution. The role heads a team across Production, Engineering, Quality and IT, ensuring priorities are met with clear stakeholder communication.

You will balance hands‑off leadership with technical advisement, ensuring delivery while maintaining strong system availability in a fast‑moving manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in Production IT, Manufacturing IT, MES or similar industrial tech environment.
• Previous team leadership, supervisory or line management experience.
• Strong understanding of production systems, shopfloor apps and integration.
• Experience managing workloads, incidents and escalations.
• Ability to coach, develop and empower technical staff.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Calm, practical approach to competing priorities.
• Relevant technical qualification or degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Production IT Engineers team and manage priorities.
• Coordinate team workloads, incidents and escalations.
• Conduct regular one‑to‑ones and performance development.
• Act as technical adviser when required, beyond hands‑on work.
• Coordinate cross‑functional alignment across Production, Engineering, Quality and IT.
• Explain technical issues clearly to stakeholders and make decisions within limits.
