Job summary

Nemco in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Production Engineering Manager to lead the Production Engineering team, manage NPI processes, and drive continuous improvement to ensure accurate lead times and high-quality standards.

Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you will oversee engineers, trainee engineers, and drawing office staff, coordinating with planning, production, and quality to sustain manufacturing excellence.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in managing medium-sized engineering teams.
• Electronics/manufacturing sector experience with ERP systems.
• Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong evidence of driving outcome-focused Continuous Improvement (CI) activities.
• Good written and verbal communication, high accuracy, and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Performance: Leading and managing the Production Engineering team across all people-related matters, performance, and departmental workloads.
• Manufacturing & Assembly Support: Overseeing the production engineering of products to support and streamline manufacturing, alleviate ergonomic issues, and optimise line/cell layouts.
• NPI Procedures & Documentation: Developing and enforcing NPI procedures for new products, check/generate future build packs, assess Health & Safety risks, and generate clear manufacturing documentation and tooling aids.
• Quoting & Planning: Assessing tooling requirements and costs to provide accurate assembly quotes, while liaising with planning and production to meet contract introduction lead times.
• Customer Account Management: Building relationships with allocated key customers as the technical point of contact for NPI and production engineering queries.
• Continuous Improvement & Reporting: Initiating and owning continuous improvement (CI) processes within engineering, and delivering monthly departmental KPI reports.
• Compliance & Standards: Upholding company environmental, quality, and safety policies to minimise environmental impacts and ensure high operational standards.
