Job summary

Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology in Severn Beach, Bristol, seeks an experienced Production Engineering Manager to lead a high‑performing team responsible for first‑line support, problem‑solving and continuous improvement. You will drive capacity, throughput, and product quality while championing standardisation and a CI culture across the Manufacturing Engineering team.

You will mentor staff, coordinate cross-functional collaboration, and contribute to the OI30 strategy and margin growth.

Qualifications

• Experience in electro-mechanical production environments (small batch, high-tech systems)
• Proven experience in fast-paced operations
• Knowledge of Lean methodologies and continuous improvement processes
• Experience managing and developing technical staff
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
• Ability to plan, prioritize and mentor a team in a manufacturing setting

Responsibilities

• Lead production engineering activities to improve capacity, throughput, and quality.
• Coordinate issue resolution with cross-functional teams, ensuring documented processes and containment.
• Develop KPI-based SHE/Root Cause analyses to reduce faults in production.
• Oversee creation and revision of SOPs and test documentation with ECO changes.
• Champion standardisation, innovation, and CI initiatives across Plasma Technology.
