Job summary

Solutions Engineering Recruitment is seeking a hands-on Production Engineer (Video) to join an in-house engineering team. The role covers office, warehouse and onsite delivery across the UK, working with lighting, sound and video on live events.

Onsite duties include setting up, operating and de-rigging video equipment; you may run video systems independently or with the wider team depending on event complexity. Flexibility for evenings, weekends and long days is required.

Qualifications

• Significant knowledge and experience working with video systems, including cameras, vision mixing, Novastar LED processing, playback, streaming and the Blackmagic ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Deliver video systems onsite, including cameras, vision mixing, LED screens and processing, playback and streaming.
• Project manage smaller-scale video and AV projects from start to finish.
• Support the wider Projects team on larger productions in both a technical and operational capacity.
• Prepare and de-prepare video equipment for site, ensuring all kit is tested, cased and ready for use.
• Maintain, fault-find and repair video equipment within the stockholding.
• Ensure video equipment is stored and organised correctly within the warehouse.
• Produce design, patch and signal-flow plans for video systems.
• Assist with deliveries and collections when required.

Production Engineer (Video)

Overview

We're looking for a hands-on and adaptable Production Engineer (Video) to join an in-house engineering team, working alongside colleagues across lighting, sound and video on a varied range of live events.

This is a role split across the office, warehouse and onsite, so you'll need to be comfortable adapting to different working environments and event types.

Onsite, you'll work alongside engineers and crew to set up, operate and de-rig video equipment. Depending on your experience and the complexity of the event, you'll have the opportunity to run video systems independently or with support from the wider engineering team.

The role is suited to someone who is proactive, hardworking and passionate about live events, with the flexibility to work evenings, weekends and long days when required.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Significant knowledge and experience working with video systems, including cameras, vision mixing, Novastar LED processing, playback, streaming and the Blackmagic ecosystem.

• Previous live event operation experience.

• Good basic electrical knowledge.

• Good IT and networking knowledge.

• Comfortable working at height.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Proactive and self-motivated approach.

• Proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

• Customer service experience, with a desire to exceed expectations.

• Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

• BS7909 competency/certification.

• A secondary discipline in lighting or sound.

• Forklift, Telehandler or IPAF licences.

• PLASA NRC.

• First Aid qualification.

• CAD skills.

Working Pattern

The role is split across the Arborfield office and warehouse, alongside onsite delivery at events across the UK.

Due to the nature of live event work, you'll be expected to work evenings, weekends and long days when required, with appropriate notice.

The role also involves manual handling and heavy lifting, along with client-facing work.

What's on Offer

• £30,000 - £40,000 salary, dependent on experience.

• Paid overtime at standard hourly rate for hours worked up to 48 hours per week, with time-and-a-third for additional hours beyond 48 per week.

• Time off in lieu can also be arranged in place of payment, with approval.

• 4 weeks' annual leave + UK bank holidays.
