Job summary

Solutions Engineering Recruitment is seeking a hands-on Production Engineer (Sound) for our client in Arborfield. You will join an in-house engineering team to set up, operate and de-rig sound equipment for live events across the UK.

The role is hybrid across office, warehouse and onsite delivery with occasional evenings, weekends and long days. You'll work with PA/line array systems, Allen & Heath desks and Dante networking, with opportunities to lead smaller projects and support larger

Responsibilities

• Deliver sound systems onsite, including PA and line array systems, mixing desks, RF/mic and monitor engineering.
• Project manage smaller-scale sound and AV projects from start to finish.
• Support the wider Projects team on larger productions in technical and operational capacity.
• Prepare and de-prepare sound equipment, ensuring kit is tested and ready for use.
• Maintain, fault-find and repair sound equipment within stockholding.
• Ensure equipment is stored and organised in the warehouse.
• Produce design, patch and signal-flow plans for sound systems.
• Assist with deliveries and collections when required.

Overview

We're looking for a hands-on and adaptable Production Engineer (Sound) to join an in-house engineering team, working alongside colleagues across lighting, sound and video on a varied range of live events.

This is a hybrid role split across the office, warehouse and onsite, so you'll need to be comfortable adapting to different working environments and event types.

Onsite, you'll work alongside engineers and crew to set up, operate and de-rig sound equipment. Depending on your experience and the complexity of the event, you'll have the opportunity to run sound systems independently or with support from the wider engineering team.

The role is suited to someone who is proactive, hardworking and passionate about live events, with the flexibility to work evenings, weekends and long days when required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver sound systems onsite, including PA and line array systems, mixing desks, RF/wireless microphone systems and monitor engineering, either independently or as part of an engineering team.

• Project manage smaller-scale sound and AV projects from start to finish.

• Support the wider Projects team on larger productions in both a technical and operational capacity.

• Prepare and de-prepare sound equipment for site, ensuring all kit is tested, cased and ready for use.

• Maintain, fault-find and repair sound equipment within the stockholding.

• Ensure sound equipment is stored and organised correctly within the warehouse.

• Produce design, patch and signal-flow plans for sound systems.

• Assist with deliveries and collections when required.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Significant knowledge and experience working with sound systems, including PA/line array systems, Allen & Heath mixing desks, RF/wireless microphone systems and monitor engineering.

• Previous live event operation experience.

• Good basic electrical knowledge.

• Good IT and networking knowledge, including audio networking protocols such as Dante.

• Comfortable working at height.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Proactive and self-motivated approach.

• Proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

• Customer service experience, with a desire to exceed expectations.

• Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

• BS7909 competency/certification.

• A secondary discipline in lighting or video.

• Forklift, Telehandler or IPAF licences.

• PLASA NRC.

• First Aid qualification.

• CAD skills.

Working Pattern

The role is split across the Arborfield office and warehouse, alongside onsite delivery at events across the UK.

Due to the nature of live event work, you'll be expected to work evenings, weekends and long days when required, with appropriate notice.

The role also involves manual handling and heavy lifting, along with client-facing work.

What's on Offer

• £30,000 - £40,000 salary, dependent on experience.

• Paid overtime at standard hourly rate for hours worked up to 48 hours per week, with time-and-a-third for additional hours beyond 48 per week.
