Job summary

VACGEN Ltd in Hailsham, East Sussex, seeks a Production Engineer to join our modern manufacturing environment. You will work at the design-to-production interface, turning concepts into manufacturable products and supporting new product introductions.

You’ll design vacuum chambers and fixtures in 3D CAD, develop manufacturing routes and BOMs in our ERP, and collaborate with Design and Shop Floor to improve quality, efficiency and cost. A hands-on engineering mindset helps you thrive.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Production/Manufacturing engineering role.
• Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
• Experience using 3D CAD and creating drawings.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles.
• Experience creating technical documentation and process instructions.
• Hands-on engineering ability, including assembling complex products.
• Ability to work independently and with teams.
• Knowledge of ERP systems and manufacturing control processes.

Responsibilities

• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and turn designs into manufacturable products.
• Develop manufacturing routes, BOMs and engineering data in ERP.
• Collaborate with Design and Manufacturing to optimize production.
• Design vacuum chambers, fixtures and tooling in 3D CAD.
• Create detailed engineering drawings and docs.
• Provide input on quotations, costings and feasibility.
• Investigate production issues and identify root causes.
• Drive continuous improvements in quality, efficiency and cost.
• Create clear work instructions and process controls.
• Support ECNs and engineering changes.
• Review customer build-to-print designs and give feedback.
• Participate in DFMEA, PFMEA and PPAP activities.
• Work with customers and suppliers on technical requirements.
• Share knowledge and train colleagues on processes.
